What/ Which is the best Samsung phone to buy?

many people has asked me this question and the best possible answer is who ever has the latest features, talking about we can include Samsung Galaxy Z and Samsung Galaxy S20+ in this list at top.

Above all Samsung Galaxy Z flip is a fordable phone with 6.7 inch display which folds into half.

It have a thin glass over screen, which is really better than the plastic foldable screen as we saw in Motorola Razr.

Here we are missing dedicated telephoto camera, because of the shortage of space.

With battery too we are facing similar issue due to shortage of space.

There is some space is side way, which will make you fear of something that may find its way inside.

Even more its not water resistance at all and even dust can get into it easily

It also got strong wireless charging, which can be easily trusted.

Above all the best thing to note is that there is a Flex mode, which lets you keep the phone in 90 degree angle. Which lets you do a variety of features such as you can take photos from selfies camera by placing it at 90 degree angle on table. Even more you can have hand free video calls.

It is a relief that Samsung has nylon fibers inside it to prevent dirt and grime from finding its way inside the hinge, in the gaps and under the display .

Samsung Galaxy Z flips measures 73.6 x 87.4 x 17.3mm and unfolded it measures 73.6 x 167.3 x 7.2mm. It weighs 183g.

Galaxy Z Flip has a 6.7-inch Full HD+ screen and 21.9:9 aspect ratio, which looks big in the hand.

First of all, a solid metal frame is there to support ultra thin layer of glass to protect the foldable display.

On the right side there are the physical volume and power button, while the dual camera are placed at the back.

The power button also works as fingerprint sensor, there is also a USB Type-C port is present at the bottom but there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack available.

There is a small screen on the back of the phone which is enough to display a name or number while you get a call, its size is 1.1-inch which use AMOLED ‘Cover Display’.

Even more it can show some notifications such as date, time, battery life. you can also use this small screen to scroll the notifications and applications and select it and when you will flip open the phone you will get the notification open on the main screen.

This phone comes with a flexible FHD+ panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2635 which works out with an aspect ratio of 21.5:9.

Taking about the display it has 6.7-inch tall Dynamic AMOLED display, with 5.8-inch in width which is very similar to Apple iphone 11pro

Below the plastic layer you find the this Ultra this glass layer of a 30-micron thin layer of glass which have a folding capacity of about 200,000 folds, but due to this it makes the screen so easy to damage.

It won’t be able to notice the crease between the fold when you flip open it.

Furthermore taking about the brightness of the phone, having the Samsung flagship its brightness is obviously good but its not as good as other Samsung flagship holders.

Even more, during the daylight it will be hard to see it’s screen other than the landscape mode. That will make it easier to use GPS navigation, photos or videos.

Colors are saturated and punchy, also whites are slightly cool.

You will also find advance sliders to the Red, blue and green color in vivid profile, but there is no customization to natural profile.

Here we have:

  • 12MP F2.2 Main camera camera
  • Similarly 12MP F1.8 wide-angle shooter as secondary camera.

There also a 10MP camera which is placed through a cut out on display.

Primary 12MP rear camera:

It has same sensor and pixel size like the S10 but it does not it does not has a switching aperture as S10.

It also work as a f/1.8 aperture lens, 1.4-micron pixels, Dual Pixel auto-focus, and optical image stabilization.

Secondary 12MP camera:

It has an ultra-wide angle with f2.2 aperture and 1.12-micron pixels.

10MP Selfie Camera:

It has a f/2.4 aperture, there is a good thing about this selfie camera that when this selfie camera detects more than 2 faces are going to be in a selfie it automatically get into a slightly wider angle.

The camera App uses One UI 2.0.

Furthermore, you can wipe left and right to switch between shooting modes. Similarly swipe vertically to switch between selfie camera and the main shooter.

During outdoor shoot we found out there were some distortion in the photos specially in the dark areas. Even more you can totally lose the details.

Similarly sometimes the photos get over-sharped.

HDR clicks are good even when you are directly towards sun.

With the ultra wide angle photos the colors are pretty good, also the white balance.

During the low light photography the images gets little soft, also little shaky.

Taking about Night vision mode the photos looked very unnatural. Although it was very improved details and colors during night mode. Pictures those were taken with ultra wide shots were not that good in terms of details but the colors and white balance did a good job, however we can say it was a good experience with night mode.

Furthermore taking about portrait mode, it has no ToF sensor equipped. Thus its Bokeh effect totally depend upon its software.

Samsung has focused over facial smoothing as always.

You can also take selfies from the folded cover rear camera, which will be displayed with a crop into a 1:1 aspect ratio.

  • The main 12MP camera can record up to 4K resolution video in 60fps
  • However, the secondary ultra wide camera is limited to 30 fps in both 1080p and 4K video.

There are a few recording modes available here, such as Samsung’s very famous super steady mode, which has been set default at 1080p resolutions from the ultra wide camera.

There is also an night hyper-lapse mode, which is quite fascinating.

It is interesting to shoot videos in FLEX MODE in a 16:9 aspect ratio. Above all the 4K video quality is pretty good with great auto-focus.

Snapdragon 855+ processor, coming with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, which we also saw in last year hardware.

We don’t have to care about its performance because its already better than Note 11+ which was considered as greater performer with Snapdragon 855.

Performance Samsung Galaxy Z
Performance Samsung Galaxy Z

It gives very fast read/write speed and few shutters around the UI because of UFS 3.0.

The chip-set is using an octa-core CPU consisting of 1x.2.96GHz Kryo 485 core, 3x lower clocked 2.42GHz Kryo 485 cores and four more Kryo 485 cores ticking at 1.8GHz for less demanding tasks.

Samsung Galaxy Z is also using Adreno 640 clocked at 700MHz for GPU intensive task.

Samsung Galaxy Z use 3,300 mAh battery which of-course is not that good but when we compare it MOTOROLA RAZR which comes with 2510 mAh battery, it looks far batter than RAZR.

In comparison to Motorola Razr it Galaxy Z similarly uses dual battery but they got much batter performing. Where the upper half has:

  • 930 mAh battery and
  • Also the lower half has 2,370 mAh battery

Even more it is also supporting wireless charging. It can only charge with Maximum of 15W while the Samsung flagship has much better charging.

And the wireless charger can support any Qi-compatible device.

However the good news that its stand alone time is 85 hours.

  • Above all Good performing folding concept
  • Flow-less with splits-creen UI
  • Also it gives Premium feel
  • Wireless charging
  • Gorgeous finish and design
  • Flagship level camera experience
  • Furthermore it has Thin, hard-shell protection

  • Above all its Quite expensive
  • Cover Display is very small
  • Screen is susceptible to scratching despite UTG
  • Also Battery life is average

First of all taking about its price for 256GB 8GB RAM device.

Furthermore on Alibaba it is available for $1988.82

It was launched in India on 20th Feb 2020. However it was already launched in few parts of the world before India
